Even for a relatively unknown book the quality put into this audiobook is way below acceptable. Greenwood is really good at writing magic descriptions, if not a bit long winded.

At this point, of course, it is much to late to protest that it is a Bad Book, that it is Maing Very Poorly, that I find it Profoundly Stupid – because I was caught reading it rather than caught pitching it disgustedly against the wall. I was hoping for cheap thrills with this one, but it’s not even trashily fun.

He tells the long, complicated origin story of Magf with tons of side characters and recurring plot-threads, but this time around it just seemed a little too stuck together. If the book had more detail it would have been better as a whole. Then they get attacked.

I might try to come back makinf this genre in the future, but I’ll give it some breathing room first.

They do not speak of their secrets. He meets a soldier or mercenary or something, who gruffly tells him a bit about his heritage. And as a more “heavy” reader mostly reading non-fictionit’s very nice to see legitimate philosophical discussions occurring in the world.

Each battle is more difficult than the last, the odds are always stacked against them, but they always come out on top in the end. I would relate this elmnster to reading the childhood story mxge your favorite role model, hero, celebrity – except my “hero” was a fictional character, in a fantasy world, who kept my imagination soaring to new heights.

This book was written in a time before cell phones were everywhere, it has the s attitude and culture that I miss and strives for bigger ideas of feminist equality, valuing racial diversity, lifelong learning, etc. Jul 23, Jennifer Melzer rated it it was ok.
